Exam Paper Pattern in Detail 📊
The selection process consists of a written examination, a physical efficiency test, and an interview.
Written Examination (200 marks):
Paper 1 (Descriptive – 50 marks):
- Part 1: Essay writing in Kannada or English (30 marks).
- Part 2: Translation between Kannada and English (20 marks).
Paper 2 (Objective – 150 marks):
- Format: 150 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) for 150 marks.
- Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
- Negative Marking: A deduction of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
Exam syllabus
Paper 1 (Descriptive):
- Essay: General topics and current affairs.
- Translation: Passages from Kannada to English and English to Kannada.
Paper 2 (Objective):
- General Knowledge: Current events, Indian history and culture, geography, Indian constitution, civics, general science, and mental ability. Mental Ability: Logical reasoning, analytical ability, numerical ability (simplification, percentages, HCF, LCM), and data interpretation.
Physical standards
- Men: Height: 163 cm minimum.
- Chest: 81 cm minimum with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
- Women: Height: 157 cm minimum.
- Weight: 49.9 kg minimum.
- Eye Sight: Minimum distant vision of 6/6 and 6/9 for the two eyes, without glasses.
- Other Requirements: Candidates must not have knock knees, flat feet, or varicose veins and should have good mental and bodily health.
Physical efficiency test: Qualified candidates must undergo a physical efficiency test.
- Male Candidates: Must complete a 25 km walk in 4 hours.
- Female Candidates: Must complete a 14 km walk in 4 hours.
