Exam Name: Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) Exam

Educational Qualification 🎓

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized  in India.

Age Limit 🎯 :

  • Minimum Age: 21 years.
  • Maximum Age: 35 years for the General Category.

Age relaxation 💡

  • Age relaxation is provided for candidates belonging to specific categories as per government rules.

    • OBC (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B): Up to 38 years.
    • SC/ST: Up to 40 years.

Exam Paper Pattern in Detail 📊

Stage 1: Compulsory Kannada Language Test
  • Nature: This is a compulsory and qualifying test. Marks from this test do not contribute to the final merit list.
  • Format: Multiple-choice questions (MCQ), typically carrying 150 marks.
  • Standard: The difficulty level is equivalent to the SSLC (10th standard).
  • Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 50 marks to be eligible for the written competitive exam.

 

Stage 2: Written Competitive Examination
  • Format: The exam has two objective-type (MCQ) papers.
  • Negative Marking: A penalty of 0.25 marks is deducted for every incorrect answer.

  • Rural Development, Panchayat Raj Institutions, and Rural Co-operative Societies.
  • Karnataka Economy: Strengths, weaknesses, and current status.
  • Environmental and Development Problems of Karnataka.
  • Mental Ability (at SSLC level).

 

Paper-II: Communication Paper
  • General Kannada: Grammar, vocabulary, usage, comprehension, synonyms, and antonyms.
  • General English: Grammar, vocabulary, usage, comprehension, synonyms, and antonyms.
  • Computer Knowledge: Fundamentals of computers, MS Office, internet usage, and computer security.

Physical exam

There is no physical examination or fitness test for the Village Administrative Officer position. The final selection is based on the merit achieved in the written competitive exam and successful document verification.
